Art Beyond Waste artwork submission

Before you start

Council wants to increase community awareness and interest about the products we purchase, what they are made of and where they end up. This project highlights issues surrounding landfill and over consumerism in a positive format for both participants and visitors to the exhibition.

Artwork submissions close 5:00 pm Wednesday 14 May 2025.

What you will need

  • 5-10 minutes to complete this form. You cannot save progress once you start.
  • Contact details including website and social media handles
  • the height, width and depth (in centimetres) of your completed artworks
  • 1-3 images in JPG or PNG format under 10mb each.

Terms and conditions

Who can register?

Anyone aged 15 and over who lives, works, or plays in Knox can submit artwork for this exhibition.

Artwork

You can submit artwork up to the following maximum dimensions:

  • 2D artworks: 80cm x 80cm
  • Small sculptures: 20cm (height) x 25cm (width) x 25cm (depth)
  • Wearable art: 150cm (height) x 80cm (width)
  • Functional items (including jewellery): 20cm (height) x 20cm (width) x 20cm (depth).

Materials

  • Use materials from op shops, recycling centres, or reuse art supplies like Reverse Art Truck or Resource Rescue
  • Use materials from home, such as cardboard, plastics, old tools, small objects collecting dust, and old textile waste.

Do not use:

  • Unhygienic or used products
  • Sharp objects or old tools that could harm visitors.

Additional notes

  • Miller’s Homestead is a family-friendly venue. All artwork must be suitable for all ages.
  • All artworks must be ready to hang or display.
  • For jewellery and 3D items, think about how they will be shown. Miller’s Homestead has limited display options.
  • Selected participants will get help on how to hang or display their work before the exhibition.
  • Participants must collect their artwork after the exhibition to reuse or recycle them.
