Register a domestic animal business

All domestic animal businesses in Knox must be registered with Council.

What you will need

• 5-10 minutes to complete this form. You cannot save progress once you start.
• Contact details and ABN
• Public Liability Insurance certificate (PDF) that shows:
  • at least $20 million coverage, including principal’s indemnity cover
  • name of the insurer and policy holder
  • Policy number and expiry date
  • list "Knox City Council" as an interested party.

Your insurance certificate coverage requires:

• $20 million is required for a boarding establishment
• $10 million minimum for a dog training establishment.

I understand that...

• Council may seek feedback from any neighbouring properties that may be affected by your application
• Council may inspect and audit the premise at any time to ensure compliance in accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994 (DAA), associated Domestic Animal Business Code of Practice and any terms, conditions, limitations or restrictions imposed by Council
• In addition to the DAA requirements, you may also require a Planning Permit and/or Local Laws Permit
• Permits are valid until 10 April each year
• A permit fee will be payable if the permit is approved
• Failure to comply with any of the above may result in the withdrawal or cancellation of your registration.
