- What To Do With Soft Plastics?
Last week it was announced that REDCycle's soft plastics collection program was put on hold. You can no longer drop off your soft plastics at local supermarkets (Coles or Woolworths).
Please DO NOT put soft plastics in your recycling bin. Please put all soft plastics in your household rubbish bin. This means for now soft plastics will go back into landfill.
Here are some tips to help reduce the number of soft plastics coming home and adding to your household rubbish:
- Try to avoid soft plastics where possible
- Take reusable shopping bags
- Put fruit and vegetables in a reusable bag (e.g. cotton string bags)
- Try reusable food coverings instead of cling wrap (e.g. beeswax wraps)
We hope REDCycle's program will resume again in the new year but we will keep you updated about the situation.
