Storm recovery update

In the aftermath of the storms that impacted parts of Knox on 13 February 2024, Council received a record-breaking 1113 requests for community assistance, particularly for fallen and broken trees.

Since then, our crews have attended to and completed over 74% (660) jobs.

Extra crews were brought on to respond to all high-priority jobs posing danger including hanging branches over roads and footpaths, and fallen branches and trees on fences, houses, and cars.

Work is continuing to clean up remaining debris that did not pose an immediate danger. It is anticipated that the remaining 450 jobs will be actioned over the next 4 weeks.

Meanwhile, structural assessments of damaged trees are underway to determine whether trees need to be pruned or removed.

We are working as hard and as fast as we can to resolve requests for assistance and thank the community for their patience during this time.

Residents impacted by the storm can dispose of storm-related waste free of charge at the Knox Transfer Station until the end of April.   This includes branches, green waste, and building materials such as fences.
