Why are we demolishing the stadium?

In 2017, Council decided to decommission the stadium as it is over 45 years old, has structural defects and is flood prone.

The new State Basketball Centre at Knox Regional Sports Park replaces the old stadium. Open now, the new centre has state-of the-art facilities, 18 indoor basketball courts and a gymnastics centre.

Impacts

Due to increased noise from the demolition, Boronia Library will remain open with limited services.

Boronia Park will remain open however the area surrounding the demolition site will be closed to the public.

The car park to the west of the stadium will be closed to the public however the northern car park near Boronia Library will stay open.
