Location

Wally Tew Reserve is located at 6 Brenock Park Dr, Ferntree Gully.

Why this project is happening

Sportsfield renewal

Wally Tew Reserve Oval 1 has been identified as the highest priority for renewal in the 2024/25 Capital Program due to:

  • Uneven playing surfaces caused by mixed grass types.
  • Poor drainage and irrigation systems.
  • Safety risks, including tripping hazards and inconsistent ball bounce.
  • Difficulties in transitioning between sports seasons (cricket and football).

Pavilion upgrade

The current Wally Tew Pavilion, built in 1980, is outdated. The upgrade will ensure the facility meets accessibility, safety, and sustainability standards.

Impacts

  • The car park will have reduced parking availability throughout 2025 due to construction vehicles.
  • The existing pavilion will be closed during construction.
