Tormore Reserve pavilion upgrade

Tormore Reserve Pavilion is set to undergo a transformation to create a modern and inclusive facility for sports and community activities. Construction is expected to take place between January 2025 and June 2026.

About the project

The Tormore Reserve Masterplan, adopted by Council in 2016, outlined a significant redevelopment of the pavilion to address outdated and inadequate facilities. The project aims to enhance accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability while supporting the sporting and community needs of Boronia.

The pavilion will include:

  • Inclusive change rooms and toilets, including facilities for female players
  • Social and multi-purpose spaces with a viewing platform
  • A meeting room and an office space
  • Expanded storage
  • Fully refurbished kitchen, kiosk, and bar

These upgrades align with Council’s Sustainable Buildings and Infrastructure Policy and will benefit current tenants, including Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club and Boronia Cricket Club, as well as hosting Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) finals.

Funding for this project includes $1.2 million from State Government and $5 million from Federal Government.

Tormore Reserve Pavilion is located at 16 Tormore Rd, Boronia VIC 3155.

Why this project is happening

The pavilion, built in 1976, no longer meets modern standards. Key issues include:

  • Lack of female change rooms and amenities
  • Outdated accessible facilities
  • Insufficient storage and social spaces

The new facility will address these issues, creating an inclusive, accessible, and environmentally sustainable hub for community and sports activities.

Impacts

  • Community consultation phases ensure residents and stakeholders can provide input.
  • Minimal disruption is expected during construction, with regular updates provided.
  • Tormore Reserve will remain operational during the works.
