- Join our bike education courses
Knox City Council is excited to announce the return of its annual bike education courses, part of the Cycling Action Plan and funded by the Department of Transport (DTP).
These courses are designed to promote active transport and help residents of all ages and abilities gain confidence and skills in cycling.
Whether you’re a family, an adult, or a beginner of any age, we have a course tailored just for you.
All Ages New Rider Course (Age 9+)
Date & time: Saturday, 5 April 2025, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Knox City Council, Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South VIC 3152
Details: For new riders who want to learn to ride from scratch. The course covers braking, balance, basic bike maintenance, and cycling-related traffic rules. Bikes are available for borrowing if needed.
What to bring: Bike (if you have one), helmet, and a water bottle.
All Ages Bike Beginner Course (Age 9+)
Date & time: Saturday 5 April 2025, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Location: Knox City Council, Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South VIC 3152
Details: Designed for bike beginners who know how to ride and want to learn to ride safely and confidently along shared paths and roads. Participants will receive practical tips to improve control and communication with other road users, along with basic bike maintenance and cycling-related traffic rules. The group will take a ride along Blind Creek Trail.
What to bring: Bike, helmet, and a water bottle.
Adult Intermediate Course (Age 18+)
Date & time: Sunday 6 April 2025, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Knox City Council, Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South VIC 3152
Details: Designed for adults who are not confident riding on busy roads, crossing traffic lights, and navigating roundabouts. Learn hook turns, roundabout navigation, and communication with other road users. Includes traffic rules and basic bike maintenance.
What to bring: Bike, helmet, and a drink bottle.
Family Bike Beginner Course
Date & time: Sunday 6 April 2025, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Location: Knox City Council, Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South VIC 3152
Details: Perfect for families looking to enjoy cycling adventures together. Participants will ride as a group along Blind Creek Trail or around Lewis Park.
What to bring: Bike, helmet, and a water bottle.
