- Local play just got more exciting
We are excited to announce that construction work to upgrade three of our local playgrounds is complete with Castlefield Square, Wantirna, Kent Park, Ferntree Gully and Val Boyd Reserve, Ferntree Gully sporting brand new play equipment for children of all ages to enjoy.
Local playgrounds are small pockets of play space and parkland that provide opportunities for children to enjoy the outdoors, remain active, and play and socialise in areas close to home or within their local neighborhoods.
We currently have over 200 local playgrounds in Knox. Each one is independently assessed against Australian Playground Standards and checked for safety, accessibility, and play value. Every year, upgrades to equipment and landscaping are prioritised and scheduled based on the audit results.
Following routine inspections and community consultation to help inform the designs, Castlefield Square, Kent Park, and Val Boyd Reserve are the latest playgrounds in Knox to benefit from an upgrade. New features include:
- Play structures
- Slides
- Swings
- Scooter tracks
- Picnic tables
- Additional trees offering natural shade
Works have been conducted as part of our 2023 - 2024 Capital Works Program.
We look forward to children rediscovering and enjoying these local spaces.
