- Celebrating NAIDOC Week
Aboriginal singer and songwriter, Kutcha Edwards is hosting a cultural immersion workshop and performing songs from his latest album ‘Circling Time’ on 7 July.
NAIDOC Week (3 to 10 July) honours and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’ shines the spotlight on those who have effected, and continue to strive for positive change for First Nations peoples and communities. It also calls for all Australians to support systemic change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Proud Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta and Nari Nari man, Kutcha Edwards is headlining 2 events during NAIDOC week.
The cultural immersion workshop explores what it means to be an Indigenous person in Australia today and the true history that brought us to this point in time. He will invite the audience to reflect on topics to enhance your knowledge of Aboriginal Australia.
The musical performance, features songs from his latest album ‘Circling Time’. The album speaks of the truth of Australia’s past, of families ripped apart and long journeys of searching and not always finding. The show is arranged in sequences exploring Kutcha’s life through the themes of Country, Birth, Youth, Politics, Love, Culture, Healing and Hope.
“This album is filled with spirit. It’s this spirit that I need to share and pass on so we can begin to heal and understand what our ancestors have passed on to us – the true meaning of ‘Circling Time’,” said Kutcha.
