- Do You Know a 2, 3 or 4 Year Old In Knox?
If you have a 2-year-old or 3-year-old child, now is the time to enrol them in 3-year-old kindergarten for next year. Registrations are also open for 4-year-old kindergarten.
Knox City Council runs 30 kindergartens across Knox. You can find a kindergarten near you here. You can also access funded kindergarten at independent kindergarten providers and long daycares.
Register your child before 30 June 2022 to be included in first round kindergarten offers. This means you are most likely to get your first preference of kindergarten.
Kindergarten is an important step for children - it’s strongly recommended that you send your children for two years of early learning before they start school.
Ninety per cent of a child’s brain develops by the time they turn 5. This means the benefits of enrolling children in kindergarten can last a lifetime.
At Council-run kindergartens you can access five hours of funded 3-year-old kindergarten each week and 15 hours of 4-year-old.
Young children learn about the world through play. At kindergarten, they will experience play-based learning and make friends, while they build language skills and learn about numbers and patterns.
It is between the ages of 3 and 5 that children start to learn how to manage their emotions and behaviour. Kindergarten is a safe and supportive place for children to build these skills and form positive relationships.
Families with children born between January and April can choose which year to start kindergarten. Children must be 3 or 4, by the 30 April in the year they start kindergarten.
