- Enhancing Bayswater Activity Centre
Help us build a better Bayswater and have your say on opportunities to improve Bayswater Activity Centre. Feedback closes on 14 November.
We have developed an Issues and Opportunities Paper based on community feedback received during consultation in 2020, and technical research.
Your feedback is invited on 32 opportunities, that have been grouped into 6 key areas:
- housing and residential development
- environment, sustainability and climate change
- transport and movement
- business and economic development
- urban design and built form
- community infrastructure
Key opportunities include:
- improving safety, connectivity and accessibility for pedestrians within and around the centre, e.g. Mountain Highway
- re-imagining Penguin Place as the new town centre
- introducing more outdoor dining areas
- promoting Bayswater as a place to live, work and visit by encouraging more residential and mixed used development within the commercial core
- reducing the impacts of urban heat throughout the centre
- integrating child, youth and seniors-friendly spaces into new public buildings and areas suitable for all abilities
Community feedback will help us develop the Bayswater Renewal Strategy, which will guide future development within the precinct over the next 30 years.
