- Future Vision For Eastern Metro
The Victorian Government is seeking your feedback on their strategic vision to support population and industry growth, in Knox and Eastern Metro, outlined in their draft Eastern Metro Land Use Framework Plan.
This draft Plan sets out a 30-year vision, and priorities for Knox and five other neighbouring municipalities. It identifies growth areas, plans for essential infrastructure and community facilities (e.g. health, sporting), and improves environmental resilience.
City-shaping transport projects are being implemented to improve connectivity between the Eastern Metro region to other areas in Victoria to improve access to jobs, education and social opportunities. These projects include:
- Metro Tunnel – linking Melbourne’s south-east and Gippsland to the Sunbury line in Melbourne’s west and north-west
- North East Link – connecting Melbourne’s south-east to the Eastern Freeway, the Western Ring Road and Hume Freeway
Other key initiatives include the Wantirna Health Precinct, increasing housing choices in accessible locations, increasing tree canopy cover to 30 per cent in the Eastern Metro region.
This draft Plan is an extension of the Plan Melbourne 2017-2050, which sets out a blueprint to guide growth and change across our city. The Victorian Government is also seeking community feedback on five other metropolitan draft Land Use Framework Plans: Inner, Inner South East, Southern, Western and Northern.
Have your say by 11.59pm Sunday 24th October 2021.
Further information including the draft Plan, summary document and online submission form is available on the Victorian Government website.
