Reducing speed limit for Napoleon Road school crossings

There are two flagged school crossings on Napoleon Road between Wellington Road and Kelletts Road, Rowville.

This section of Napoleon Road currently has an 80 km/h speed limit. We have been looking at ways to improve the safety of children using the school crossing.

Whilst the crossing sites do not meet the VicRoads requirements for traffic lights, improved pedestrian safety can be achieved by reducing the speed limit during the time the flagged crossing is operating. We propose to reduce the speed limit to 40km during school zones (during school days, 8.00am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4.00pm). The reduced speed limit would be displayed using electronic signage on school days when the school crossing is operating.

We are seeking feedback on our proposal to reduce the speed limit to 40km/h on Napoleon Road near Snowgum Close and Gill Court, Rowville.

Feedback closes on Friday 24 February at 5.00pm.
