- Start Adding Food Scraps To Your Green Bin
If you have a new food and garden bin or bin lid, or even if you're still waiting, you can add food scraps to your green bin along with your garden cuttings.
If you have your new kitchen caddy, we recommend you use this along with the compostable liners to collect the food scraps. Or you can add them straight into the bin loose if you are still waiting for the caddy.
There are many things that can go into the food and garden bin including:
- Vegetable and food scraps
- Leftover food
- Dairy, eggshells, pasta and rice
- Meat, bones, fish, soft shell seafood
- Citrus, onions, garlic
- Coffee grounds, loose tea leaves
- Paper towel, tissues, newspaper
- Garden prunings, grass, weeds
- Lime green compostable bags (AS 4736) with seedling logo
Things that cannot be added include:
- Pet poo, litter or bags
- Teabags, coffee pods
- Fruit stickers
- Nappies or wipes
- Plastic, metal or glass
- Soft plastic or biodegradable bags, packaging
