- Working Together For a Great Outcome
Today we celebrated the start of work on the new multipurpose community facility at Fairpark Reserve, Ferntree Gully with a ceremonial turning of the sod. This new facility will be home to Knox U3A, Johnson Park Cricket Club, Fairpark Football Club and Fairpark Netball Club. This project was made possible through the Australian Government's Community Development Grant of $3M, the club's contributions, grants from Cricket Australia and AFL Victoria and Council.
The new multipurpose facility was designed in collaboration with the four groups and will offer communal spaces for them to utilise throughout the year, admin areas, a kitchen, storage areas and, a viewing area for the oval. It also includes female and male changing rooms, which will provide all players with a safe and comfortable place to get changed. It also incorporates sustainable design elements and accessibility considerations. Construction is expected to be completed in December 2022.
The total project budget is $10.7M and includes upgrades to the netball court surfaces, car parking, landscaping and relocation of cricket nets. This is all part of the delivery of the Masterplan for Fairpark Reserve which has included the daylighting of the creek, the upgrade to the playground which were completed in 2019 and 2020.
