Council-first solar bench launches in Rowville

In a bid to offer sustainable solutions, we are very excited to introduce our very own, first of its kind, Smart Solar Bench in the heart of Rowville.   

Located at the Rowville Community Centre basketball courts adjacent to the outdoor gym equipment, the bench will operate as a trial for the next 12 months.  

By harnessing the power of the sun, the Smart Solar Bench is able to provide free Wi-Fi, as well as four USB charging points (including wireless charging options) for the entire community to access and utilise. 

But, what about in winter? Great question! As we head into the cooler months, rest assured the solar panels positioned on the top of the bench absorb sunlight during all months of the year. This is stored in a battery inside the bench which is used to power our devices all year round.
