- Cultural Diversity Week At Knox
Over 33% of Knox residents are born overseas. Our community is home to people from over 130 different countries, which makes us incredibly proud of our multiculturalism.
Celebrated each year in March, Cultural Diversity Week aims to celebrate what makes each of us unique and encourages cultural connection and further education of our rich backgrounds.
The 2023 Cultural Diversity Week theme is: Our Past. Our Future: Celebrating and reflecting on the contributions of Victoria's multicultural communities. The theme invites Victorians of all ages and backgrounds to reflect on multicultural Victoria's long history - and celebrate its bright future.
Cultural Diversity Week concludes on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is acknowledged globally on 21 March. Knox is committed to working toward eliminating racial discrimination and is part of the national ‘Racism. It Stops With Me’ campaign.
Knox supports various groups that work to enable people from all over the world to feel home within our community. We’d like to encourage those community members to join our Multicultural Advisory Committee, to have a voice and influence change at Council.
Applications close 20 March.
For more information on Cultural Diversity Week, visit the Victorian Multicultural Commission or contact [email protected] for events happening in Knox.
