Discover the wonders of nature

Curious about the flora and fauna around you? Wanting to know how you can support resilient biodiversity and climate? Join the 2025 Knox Nature Stewards Program today.

The 10 week program running between April and June will allow you to discover more about the natural environment around you.

Whilst immersed in nature, participants attend lectures and field trips guided by experts, land managers and local environmental champions. The program includes the following topics:
•    Ecology and ecosystems 
•    Indigenous cultures and places including ways to care for Country
•    Geology and soils 
•    Flora, fungi and fauna 
•    Waterways and water life 
•    Seasons, climate and fire ecology, and;
•    How to become a citizen scientist, conservation volunteer, or nature guide.

The program is open to anyone 18 years and over. It will suit anyone with an interest in local biodiversity and a passion for sharing knowledge, wanting to upskill and gain a deeper connection to nature.  

Register by Sunday 23 March to learn about your local environment, meet like-minded people, and find ways to get outdoors and volunteer!

When
•    Saturdays, 5 April - 28 June 2025 (exc public holiday weekends 19 & 24 April, and 7 June).
•    9.30 am – 12.30 pm (4 – 6 field sessions run after class on given dates from 1.30-4.30pm)

•    Ferntree Gully Library and Art Centre, 1010 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully, 3156, VIC

Cost
•    Cost: $350 full fee, $90 Concession (Concession: healthcare card holder, pensioner, full-time student)
