Knox selected as public art finalist

Knox has been selected as one of 13 finalists in the Victorian Women’s Public Art Program amongst organisations state-wide, which will fund six new public artworks in Victoria to honour women’s contributions.

The 2024 Victorian Women’s Public Art Program is an initiative of the Office for Women, delivered in partnership with McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery, and funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Support Fund.

The program aims to address the under-representation of women and their achievements by public artworks in Victoria. To do this, the program will commission six new public artworks, inspired by the contributions, achievements and stories of Victorian women.

Knox’s submission was for Aunty Dorothy ‘Dot’ Peters AM, who was a widely loved and respected Yarra Yarra woman. She used her roles as activist, educator, author and Elder to raise awareness of a range of issues impacting First Nations people.

The 13 finalists will be voted on – and the six organisations with the most votes will be successful in installing a new sculpture for their community.

Vote for Knox!

Voting closes this Sunday 8 December 2024, with winners announced in early 2025.
