- Mowing Delayed Due To Weather
Each spring, the combination of rain and sunny days creates the ideal conditions for all plant life, particularly our grasses, to flourish. Our teams are out there mowing every working day that weather permits.
With nearly 600 reserves to mow across Knox, we approach this task methodically.
In some cases, we have been unable to get onto a reserve as our mowers would cause damage to the saturated soil profile. In addition, as the grass is longer, it can take a bit longer to get through the work.
Sometimes we can mow sections of a reserve but not all of it because they are too wet for our mowers to access safely. As the weather warms up and the reserves dry out again, these missed areas will be cut to improve their overall appearance.
We aim to get back to our normal 4 weekly mowing cycle as we see the rains cease, in the interim our crews are working hard to catch up on the mowing needed.
The grass maintenance on nature strips and near roads is shared between Knox City Council and Vic Roads. Council has responsibility for local and non-arterial roads. VicRoads looks after our major arterial roads. Read more on our responsibility for roads page.
We thank you for your understanding.
