- New Knox Council Sworn In
The recently elected Councillors of Knox City Council have been officially sworn in.
Nine Councillors were elected at the 26 October Council elections to serve a four-year term.
Knox has nine single member wards: Baird, Chandler, Collier, Dinsdale, Dobson, Friberg, Scott, Taylor and Tirhatuan.
The nine Councillors are:
- Baird Ward Councillor Peter Lockwood
- Chandler Ward Councillor Paige Kennett
- Collier Ward Councillor Chris Duncan
- Dinsdale Ward Councillor Robert Williams
- Dobson Ward Councillor Meagan Baker
- Friberg Ward Councillor Parisa Considine
- Scott Ward Councillor Lisa Cooper
- Taylor Ward Councillor Susan Pearce
- Tirhatuan Ward Councillor Glen Atwell
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, Knox CEO Bruce Dobson welcomed the nine new Councillors.
“With the oath of office taken this evening, you have each commenced a role that will influence the future of the Knox community, likely well beyond this next four years,” he said.
“You will work together and with the organisation to serve our Knox community, to make decisions that balance a wide range of perspectives, address complex challenges, and to steward the resources of this community with care and foresight.
“That work will not always be easy, but it will be meaningful, impactful, and deeply rewarding. While the elections have been an individual contest, taking the oath this evening also marks the commencement of a collective journey – as having been sworn in as Councillors, you now take on a collective mantle.”
A meeting to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on Thursday 21 November.
The meeting starts 7pm at the Knox Civic Centre, and the community is invited to attend in person or watch online at webcast.knox.vic.gov.au
