Remembering outstanding locals

Community members have made extraordinary contributions in Knox, and we sometimes receive memorial requests to remember them. We have developed a draft policy for memorials, and invite your feedback by 19 June.

Volunteers and community members have made amazing contributions that are impactful and long-lasting in our community. Their achievements are wide-ranging, and include volunteering, cultural and environmental initiatives.

We are approached from time to time, to help remember the work of these inspiring people by creating a memorial in a Council reserve, or installing a commemorative plaque or artwork on a Council owned building.

We have developed a draft Commemorative Plaques and Memorials Policy, to help ensure we are fair and consistent when evaluating the memorial requests we received.

This is your opportunity to share feedback on areas the draft Policy covers, including the criteria for nominations, type of memorials, duration memorials are displayed, and assessment framework.

In addition to nominating individuals, community members can also nominate significant historical or cultural events in Knox for commemoration.

To have your say, or view more information including the draft Policy, visit our Have your say webpage.
