Represent your community

Be the change that you want to see and stand for Council. Find out how you can become a candidate for the 2024 Council elections at upcoming information sessions.

Councils are the closest level of government to the community. Knox City Council needs strong and diverse leadership to represent our community.

If you are a community leader or feel ready to take on an influential leadership role, consider becoming a candidate in this year’s Council elections.

Nominations to be a candidate close on 17 September. Find out more about becoming a candidate on the VEC website.

Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is running candidate information sessions across Victoria, between May to August 2024.

The information sessions will cover the following topics:

  • The election process and candidate requirements
  • Local government and the important role councils play for our local communities
  • The role and responsibility of a councillor, including time commitment and decision making
  • What newly elected councillors can expect soon after the elections
  • Councillor training and development opportunities

Attendees will receive a Citizen to Councillor Guide 2024, a resource designed to help candidates understand the importance of this elected position.
