- Transforming Our Retail Centres
Local streetscape and amenity have been enhanced at our retail centres to support business activation.
Council received $300,000 through the COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund from the Victorian Government to create more outdoor dining locations, beautify streetscapes, and host exciting events to increase foot traffic to our retail centres.
Beautification works and amenity upgrades have been completed across 6 retail centres in Knox:
- Scoresby Shopping Village
- Mountain Gate Shopping Village
- Knoxfield Shopping Village
- Ferntree Gully Village
- Rowville Lakes Shopping Centre
- Wantirna Mall
Locals and visitors have more areas to rest, enjoy meals, socialise and park their bicycles.
The majority of works occurred in Scoresby Shopping Village, with the creation of 2 new community dining spaces. The 2 spaces consist of dining pods, mud rock seating areas, spacious picnic benches and tables with in-built chess and backgammon boards.
Upgrades at Mountain Gate Shopping Village include the installation of mud rock seating areas, and festoon lighting to add warmth and a touch of magic to the area.
At Knoxfield Shopping Village, fairy lights have been installed to light up the majestic gum tree on Ferntree Gully Road and the walkway.
Across all 6 retail centres, we have installed a total of 27 park benches, 18 planter boxes and 11 bike hoops.
Studfield Shopping Centre update
We have plans to install 4 planter boxes and 2 bike hoops at Studfield Shopping Centre in the coming months. Installation can commence after South East Water have completed their maintenance and repair works in the area.
