- Understanding The New Child Safe Standards
Community organisations are invited to a free Child Safe Standards workshop on 19 September to understand their role in child safety.
Organisations that provide services to children and young people are encouraged to attend this workshop.
Victoria’s Child Safe Standards are a set of mandatory requirements for organisations providing services and facilities for children and young people.
The standards require organisations to have policies and procedures that promote safe environments for children and young people, and processes to respond to allegations of abuse and misconduct.
On 1 January 2023 new standards were introduced to strengthen child safety, and empower children and young people.
Topics covered in this workshop are:
- how the new standards impact organisations
- key requirements for organisations, including governance, child safe recruitment and training for staff and volunteers
- recognising and reporting abuse
- implications for not following the standards Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions during the workshop
Child Safe Standards workshop
Date: Thursday 19 September
Time: 10.00am to 12.15pm
Venue: Knox Library, Westfield Knox, 425 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South
