Understanding your breast health

Together with the McGrath Foundation, we are running a free Breast health information session on 3 September to help women understand the importance of routine breast care and checks.

We are hosting this session during Women’s Health Week (2-6 September) to help raise awareness for breast health and preventative care.

In Victoria, breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer, and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths for women. In 2021, 4,907 women were diagnosed with breast cancer.

Being familiar with your breasts will help you find changes early and have it checked by your doctor. When breast cancer is detected early, women have a greater chance of being treated successfully.

The session will be facilitated by a McGrath Breast Care Nurse who supports breast cancer patients and their families.

Topics covered in the session include

  • breast health, preventative care
  • risk factors for breast cancer
  • conducting routine breast care and checks
  • enhancing confidence in detecting changes
  • medical, clinical and psychosocial support available for patients

At the end of the session, you will get the chance to ask the nurse questions in a group or privately.

Light refreshments will be served.
