- Grants To Improve Safety In Ferntree Gully
Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place (MMIGP) and Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully, have both been announced as the second round of grant recipients to tackle local issues that impact on crime and safety in Ferntree Gully.
Under the Knox Empowering Communities program, MMIGP has received $20,000, while Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully has received $112,665.
The MMIGP project ‘Cultural Connections’ will focus on connecting the Frist Nations community within Knox, activating their new home of HV Jones Community Room - while running a series of public events for the broader community to meet, connect and increase cultural understanding.
The Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully’s Knox Nocturnal Youth Group (KNYG) social inclusion program, run by volunteers and youth support workers, will provide opportunities for young people including those who may be isolated or disengaged, to participate and connect in a safe and inclusive environment.
Ultimately, the program aims to strengthen community connections and provide support for young people and their families in need within Ferntree Gully.
The Knox Empowering Communities projects are funded by the Victorian Government’s Empowering Communities initiative as part of the Building Safer Communities Program.
We’re incredibly proud to be working with the State Government and look forward to working with our community in enhancing safety in Ferntree Gully for the future of our municipality.
For any questions regarding the project, please contact [email protected] or 9298 8240.
