Knox City Council’s Youth Services has a number of exciting webinars planned for Term 2.
The sessions can provide guidance, information, and support to assist parents and others, to navigate parenting in a practical and understanding way.
Tuesday 13 May: 7.30pm-8.30pm (online)
Road ready: tools and strategies to support learner and novice drivers
Delivered in partnership with Road Safety Education Victoria and Maroondah City Council this webinar is designed specifically for parents and carers of young learner drivers. This session will equip parents with the essential knowledge and skills needed to help them assist learner drivers become a safe and responsible driver.

Creating a Positive Autistic Identity
In partnership with Council’s Disability Inclusion Team and Amaze this webinar is ideal for parents of young people aged 10-18 years who may have been recently diagnosed as being autistic. The webinar will focus on ways to create spaces for people to confidently be their true selves. Amaze is the peak Victorian body for autistic people and their supporters that provides advocacy, education and evidence-based supports for the autistic community.

Sleep and Young People
Knox Youth Services, together with the Human Development Workshop are delivering this webinar focused on sleep and teens. Perfect for parents of teenagers this webinar will cover topics including the brain science behind changing adolescent sleep patterns, the most common barriers to sleep, resources and strategies for getting more sleep, and simple and actionable steps for better communication between adults and teens so that everyone can get a better night's sleep.

Affirmative consent
Delivered by Eastern Community Legal Centre, and in partnership with Whitehorse City Council, this webinar focuses on understanding affirmative consent and legal definitions; how to practice consent; sexing and image-based abuse and the law; understanding cyberbullying and sexual harassment; and the legal consequences of cybercrimes.
