Work experience and student placements

Learn new skills and experience by taking part in our work experience and student placement programs.

Our year 10 work experience program is currently on hold.
Please check back again in 2026 for updates.

Student placements with Knox City Council Youth Services

Applications for a student placement position with the Youth Services Team are open to tertiary students studying Youth Work or related courses.

The application period opens twice a year (March-April and June-July), and the process requires a:  

  • Resume
  • Cover letter
  • Completed application form
  • Interview (please note not all applicants will be invited to the interview stage)  
  • Valid Working with Children Check

It's important to understand suitability, criteria and the application process before applying. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Further requirements for student placement 

If selected for the next stage, you will need to supply:

  • an up-to-date Working with Children check
  • a current police check.

We may also ask you to come in for an interview or to supply extra information. Knox City Council Youth Services can only support one placement student at any given time.
