About the plan
On 27 September 2021, Council adopted the Climate Response Plan 2021–2031 to:
- take action to reduce our impact on the environment
- prepare for the effects of a changing climate.
The plan provides a roadmap for:
- Council to reach net zero emissions by 2030
- the Knox community to reach net zero emissions by 2040.

Climate Response Plan – 1 Year Progress Report
Council has released its one-year progress report detailing how we're achieving the goals set out in the Climate Response Plan.
The report shows that Council has reduced corporate emissions by 44% since 2015/2016.
We have also made significant progress in these areas:
- renewable energy
- transportation
- environment
- efficient buildings and infrastructure
- advocacy
- business and industry
- community health and resilience
- community education
