Climate Response Plan

The Climate Response Plan 2021–2031 aims to protect our community from the effects of climate change and reduce both Council and Community greenhouse emissions.

About the plan

On 27 September 2021, Council adopted the Climate Response Plan 2021–2031 to:

  • take action to reduce our impact on the environment
  • prepare for the effects of a changing climate.

The plan provides a roadmap for:

  • Council to reach net zero emissions by 2030
  • the Knox community to reach net zero emissions by 2040.

Climate Response Plan – 1 Year Progress Report

Council has released its one-year progress report detailing how we're achieving the goals set out in the Climate Response Plan.

The report shows that Council has reduced corporate emissions by 44% since 2015/2016.

We have also made significant progress in these areas:

  • renewable energy
  • transportation
  • environment
  • efficient buildings and infrastructure
  • advocacy
  • business and industry
  • community health and resilience
  • community education
