Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee

The Knox Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is responsible for the Municipal Emergency Management Plan.

The MEMPC is accountable to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Emergency Management Committee, however Knox City Council provides significant support and resources for the MEMPC’s work.

Committee objectives

The Committee creates, maintains and tests the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP).

The MEMP addresses the prevention of, response to and recovery from emergencies within Knox. It also covers broader local government plans including the:

  • Forest Fire Management Victoria
  • EACH
  • St John Ambulance
  • Victorian Council of Churches Emergencies Ministry
  • Victoria State Emergency Service.

Meetings

The MEMPC meets at least four times a year.

The Committee will also meet after a significant emergency to review its response.
