Committee objectives
The Community and Council Plan 2017-2020 leads all their actions and decisions.
The Committee advises on:
- the strategic direction of various Council plans
- policy and direction in line with social, economic natural and build environments for health
- emerging health, safety and wellbeing priorities and evidence-based strategies
- feedback and advice on local safety, health and wellbeing issues
- Council’s advocacy program
- partnership development
- internal and external funding sources and opportunities
- local and regional responses to community safety, health and wellbeing issues.
Committee member requirements
A diverse group of local volunteers make up the Committee.
Committee members have interest and knowledge of community safety, health and wellbeing.
The Committee must include:
- 13 positions for Knox community safety, health and wellbeing organisation representatives
- one representative from the Department of Health and Human Services
- one representative from the Victoria Police
- up to two Councillors appointed annually by Council.
Length of engagement
Committee members are elected for two years.
Councillor members
Council appoints at least two Councillors to take part in the Committee.
They offer support in a range of areas, including delegated authority and advocacy.

The current Councillors are:

- Cr Laukens
Length of engagement
Councillor members are elected for one year.
Council officers
The Knox City Council CEO nominates officers to provide advice and support to the Committee.
Meetings
Meetings take place bi-monthly. The Committee operates alongside a Terms of Reference.
The Committee will also take part in the six-monthly Group Meetings and the annual Advisory Committee Forum.
