About the Network
A PPN is designed to encourage walking by providing a comfortable and enjoyable walking environment. This may include:
- generous footpaths
- shade and weather protection
- seating
- priority over other transport modes at intersections.
Paths must also be:
- safe
- convenient
- attractive
- clearly signposted.
The key goal of a PPN is to increase walking trips. Greater levels of walking participation is a major objective of Knox Council to build a healthier, more inclusive and safer city.
We also use the PPN as a guide for future investigations and infrastructure upgrades to key connections across the City.
