E-waste (electronic waste)

E-waste (electronic waste) is anything that has a plug, cord or battery. You have several options for recycling your e-waste in Knox.

E-waste regulations

Electronic waste is no longer accepted in any bin or landfill site across Victoria.

E-waste can contain hazardous and valuable materials which shouldn't end up in landfill.

  • enable greater recovery of the valuable materials.

How e-waste is processed and reused

Once your e-waste has been collected or dropped off

  • Items are carefully disassembled
  • Remaining components are shredded. Data destruction also takes place at this stage
  • Raw materials are processed and sorted
  • Repurposed e-waste is sold to suppliers to make new products.
