Request a planning file
Copies of planning permits, endorsed plans and documentation for properties in Knox may be available from the late 1960s.
Mostly, however, only files from the early 1970s are recalled.
This is because Knox City Council can't guarantee that older files are available.
After you submit your request and the applicable planning fee, it usually takes up to 15 working days to complete your search. Complex requests may take longer.
If we don't find the documents you want, we can't refund the fee.
Copies of house plans
If you need a copy of your house plans, where no planning or development permit has been issued, make a building file search request.
Planning fees
We provide up to two permits and a copy of an endorsed plan only per file. Any additional permits cost more.
Council's planning fee guidelines outline the costs.
We'll let you know if any other fees are due.

We aim to provide these within 15 business days after receiving a complete application.

You need to pay by credit card when submitting your application online.
You can also download an application form and apply by mail with a cheque or money order or apply and pay over the counter at:
