Knox City Council provides public access to planning applications. You can view:

Requesting a planning file
You can request copies of planning permits, endorsed plans, or other documents for properties in Knox.
Planning File Requests
- Files are available from the late 1960s onward.
- Most files are from the early 1970s, but older files may not be available.
- Requests take up to 15 business days. Complex searches may take longer.
- If the documents cannot be found, the fee is non-refundable.
Copies of house plans
If your house doesn’t have a planning or development permit, submit a building file search request instead.
Planning file recall fees
- The fee covers up to two permits and one endorsed plan per file. Additional permits incur extra costs.
- Fees are outlined in Council’s planning fee guidelines.
- You will be informed if extra fees apply.
How to apply for a planning file search
You can apply online, by mail, or in person:
Online applications
- Submit your application as a registered user.
- Payment is required by credit card.
- Files are typically provided within 15 business days of receiving a complete application.
By mail or in-person
- Download and complete the application form.
- Submit it:
- By mail with a cheque or money order
- Over the counter at:
