Amend your planning application

Amend your planning application anytime before approval. Submit changes online or by post. Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) on time to avoid delays or the application lapsing.

Amend your planning application

You can request changes to your planning application at any time before a decision is made by Council or VCAT. However, if changes are made after advertising, the application may need to be re-advertised, which could result in additional fees and delays.

What to include

Your amendment request must outline all proposed changes, including updates to any plans or documents submitted with your original application.

How to amend your application

Contact your allocated Planning Officer directly to discuss amending your application, and if any additional fees are applicable.

Provide further information

When additional information is requested for your planning permit application, it’s essential to respond promptly to avoid delays or cancellation.

Submitting Requested Information

You must provide all requested details by the due date specified in the Request for Further Information (RFI) letter. Your application will remain on hold until we receive this information.

Online submission

Use Council’s Online Services to upload your documents. Simply:

  • Log in to your account.
  • Select 'Online Registers' and then 'My Planning Applications'.
  • Choose the relevant application.
  • Click 'Object, Support or Further Info' at the bottom of the page.
  • Select 'Provide additional information requested by Council' to upload your documents.

Alternatively, follow the link provided in the email requesting further information.

If you need more time

If you cannot provide the information by the RFI due date:

  • Request an extension at least one day before the listed lapse date. Include an explanation for the delay.
  • If approved, we will notify you of the new due date.
  • If denied, you will have an additional 14 days to submit all outstanding information.

If the due date passes

If you fail to submit the requested information or request an extension before the lapse date:

  • Your application will lapse, meaning it is no longer valid.
  • You will need to start the process again by submitting a new planning permit application, including all fees.

Additional review

When your information is received, the Planning Officer will resume assessing your application. This may include seeking feedback from other departments or external authorities if necessary.

Specialist advice and referrals

In some cases, your application might be referred to other Council departments for expert advice on issues like traffic, stormwater, or trees. It may also be referred to external authorities, such as Melbourne Water, VicRoads, or the CFA. These authorities have 28 days to respond to Council.
