Proposal to sell 58-60 Station Street, Bayswater
We seek your feedback on our proposal to sell the Council property declared as surplus at 58-60 Station Street, Bayswater. Your feedback will help guide Council's decision.
Council declared this vacant land as surplus at the December 2021 Council meeting and resolved to undertake a tender to identify a registered housing association and build either social or affordable housing on the site. The tender process is complete; Knox has identified HousingFirst as the preferred buyer.
It is proposed to sell 58-60 Station Street, Bayswater, at a subsidised rate, subject to finance, and include a Planning and Environment Act Section 173 agreement. The Section 173 proposed in the contract of sale will limit the use of the site to the provision of Social housing only.
The land was previously a hall, which was demolished in 2020, and includes a group of Red Ironbark trees of medium to low retention value. Two Red Ironbark trees have been identified as high retention trees and will be retained in the proposed development.
