Building file searches
You can request building files from about 1970 onward.
Be advised that there is no guarantee that a building file is available. Regardless, the cost to process a building file search request is non-refundable.
Payment is payable for each building file of the individual works. For example, one payment each for the dwelling, any additions or garages.
Council only provides building files to the current owner of the property. You must submit a copy of a rates notice or drivers licence as proof of ownership.
If you are not the current owner, you must obtain:
- signed contract of sale
- letter of consent from the owner/s stating they provide consent for the named applicant to receive permit/plans and associated documentation from Council (mandatory)
- applicant’s drivers licence (mandatory).
